This is kind of related to other postings relating to requests for an SDK, and addition of browser.
I'd like to see a different sort of packaging which would be battery powered, with more flexible application selection. The goal would be a small, WiFi, touch screen device, that you could use to browse the web, read eBooks (including PDF), listen to music/videos streamed from the web etc, and when your not using it you put it into a cradle where it would revert to photo-frame mode. If the casing was robust enough I would even take such a device with me when I went out so that I could read pdfs and ebooks stored on a memory stick(and read online newspapers in wifi hotspots). If the device had a usb slot (preferably two) users could get a 3G dongle and be able to browse the web on the bus too. Basically a Kindle for the rest of us.
Android did a good job separate the kernel from the VM, and the version of the kernel is already available for the DSP used on iGala. So yes, it is definitely possible.
I'm the same as the person above. The only reason I have not brought one yet is because you have not released any specific information on it.
The applications are not the selling point. The the device itself is!
Put information on your site like drivers needed, kernel configuration and how to get it installed and you will get waves of people wanting to develop applications for it, for free!
Battery powered?

Your very close to a killer device.
SDK
Hi guys,
am i getting this right - is it possible to download an sdk for developing software/extensions for the iGala photoframe ?
/Søren
Applicaiton level SDK will be available, eventually
Just not yet.
Android
I am intersted in the device as well. Would it be possible to install Android, the mobile operating system, on it?
theoretically, yes

We will open up the platform, later
Thanks for the interest. We are not quite ready to open up the entire platform. They are only being offered to companies who bought SDKs.
another linux hacker ...
