I would like to see a light sensor integrated to turn the back light down/off or put it into a pause/hibernate mode when the ambient light changes. This is so it acts more like a regular photo frame which is only visible when light is shining on it of course. I find it's nice to have a display on in the living room but if you turn the lights off for a film etc. you don't want this light from the frame in the corner of your eye.

Could just set it to sleep
Could just set it to sleep after a short time and wake up when touched. If the device had a microphone then it could conceivably also be awoken by a voice command or by clapping or something.
However, I think adding a light sensor and/or microphone and/or webcam would open up new applications for the iGala as a passive wall-mounted digital information appliance like a calendar, thermostat, voice pager, videophone, etc. While not in use it might show pictures or turn the display off but when activated it would serve an interactive function.
Need more votes on this
Someone may want it on in the dark. A motion sensor maybe? That is another thing we have heard but haven't seen a great need for.
