It is coming up.

iGala Causes Flicker in TV

Whenever I switch on iGala it causes flicker to the TV(iGala is not close to the TV), I don't know the reason, So I have to switch Off iGala to watch TV, does anybody else has the same problem?? I've configured iGala to show my flickr photos , so does this problem relates to wi-fi?

regards,
jcrajan00

Question

Could provide the following information?

  • What kind of TV do you have?
  • What is the source of your TV signal, antenna or cable?
  • Was the flicker constant and was it horizontal and strong?
  • If you put iGala in different room but in the same house, do you still observe the same problem?

WiFi operates in a different frequency band of the tv signals, which shouldn't interfere with each other.

Thanks

Pros: Ability to stream RSS

Pros: Ability to stream RSS feed in loop and touchscreen interface are wonderful features. Fairly stable interface, a bit slow to respond to input but still quite usable. Nice design, good screen clarity. Auto on/off timer works well. Ability to hang frame from wall.

Desires: More than one on/off time, day of week selection (so frame could stay on longer on weekends and off on weekdays when we're at work). Brightness control (more dimly lit blends in better with other print photos on wall). More detail on WiFi association failures - The frame would not connect to my router (cheap Airlink 802.11g, but had been working fine for years) so I finally went out and purchased another router (Belkin) and still could not connect using WPA or WPA2 with TKIP. Finally established connection using WEP 128, but struck me as more configuration than would be necessary if more feedback was provided during process.

Overall I love the frame. Finally I found one that lives up to the promise of what a WiFi enabled frame SHOULD do. Great job guys and I look forward to the next firmware release!

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks for the Feedback

This is a long one and we will carefully analyze the you problem you had.

Regarding your suggestion on Turn off time, we will seriously consider it in the future firmware upgrade fix.

The screen is a little dimmer comparing to other bright ones out there. That is because it has a layer of touch screen on top of the LCD. It is already at the brightest. We are actively searching touch screen technologies for one with better transparency. So far, this one is already good comparing to some of the other choices.

Awesome

It's about time! I've been waiting for someone to create a digital frame that automatically synched on line!

I had a few issues with the gmail, but I discovered it was my own fault for sending uncompressed images to the email account.

Flickr works very well with public folders! I haven't been able to get it to synch to private folders, though.

Set-up was a breeze. I had a few issues initially with Gmail and FLickr, but I worked through them.

It was a gift for my mom, and it seems like it's been working out well so far! She stares at it just to see if any of her 5 kids have sent any new pictures!

Thank you!!

ROB

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. Positive feedback makes us feel all the hard works are worth it and will motivate us to make it better in future.

The private access of Flickr shall work though. Did you get to a point where you can get the 9 digits token from the website? Please email support@aequitech.com and our customer support will help you to set it up. Thanks again and happy holidays.

rotate buttons don't have any effect

Right out of the box, it worked pretty well, except the rotate buttons don't do anything to the pictures I sent to my gmail box. The buttons work for the test photos in the flickr set.

Large image file that caused this problem

It is found that this image sent by Gmail was very large. Unlike images coming from Flickr which are fix sized, users can email images with any size. This could cause lots of memory consumption.

Work around is to email images that is of smaller size. Any image with resolution higher than 800x600 will appear the same on the frame. Meanwhile, we will work on a optimization in the future releases to make this more tolerable.
